republica GmbH's re:publica Berlin is Europes largest digital society festival. re:publica participants represent a cross-section of (digital) society, which include professionals from economics, politics, business, hacker culture, NGOs, media, and marketing, as well as bloggers, activists, artists, and social media experts. re:publica 22 counted more than 21.000 visits during the three conference days and was the first analogue event implemented by republica GmbH after the pandemic.

On 7 May 2020, re:publica took place exclusively online for the first time as #rpREMOTE. The content of this free online conference was broadcast on four channels simultaneously and continuously on on a platform created especially for this purpose, re-publica.tv, as well as on YouTube and Facebook, and the live streams were accessed more than 100,000 times on the day of the event. In September, re:publica Campus was realised as a month-long, daily live programme with new digital and hybrid event formats.

On 20-22 May 2021, re:publica took once again place as an online conference with the motto "In The Mean Time".

Active visitor participation makes re:publica a unique event. Anyone can propose topics, ideas, or projects for the programme, creating a diverse set of subjects and exceptional networking opportunities.

Roughly 50 percent of re:publica 19 speakers were women, ranking the event as one of the most inclusive of its kind. 

Founded in 2007 by Tanja Haeusler, Andreas Gebhard, Markus Beckedahl, and Johnny Hauesler, re:publica GmbH's shareholders have been dedicated to the fields of internet politics, digital culture and digital society for over a decade.

re:publica International

Since 2016 re:publica also took place outside of Germany, including Dublin (2016 & 2017) and Thessaloniki.

At the end of 2018, re:publica celebrated its Africa debut in Ghana's capital, Accra. Goal of this African edition of re:publica was to strengthen Afro-German dialogue about digital issues, while utilizing intersections between digitalization and collaborative developmental efforts.

re:publica was also a strategic partner of Deutschlandjahr USA and hosted five events in LA, New York, Portland, Detroit, and Austin between fall 2018 and 2019.

Innovative event formats 

re:publica regularly activates its comprehensive network of partners and speakers to host new and innovative event formats about digital society, including: .txt conference in 2022, Fachkonferenzen (2018 & 2019), Netzfest (2018, 2019 & 2020), Future Affairs conferences in 2018 & 2019 as well as Lange Nacht der Museen 2018 & 2019.
